This video demonstrates how to increase the performance of your Elastichosts server by converting a traditional spinning disk drive over to a solid state drive (SSD). This may take some time if your disk is large, but will significantly improve your performance, especially for IO-intensive applications such as database use.
- From the Elastichosts control panel, power down the server on which your drive is mounted. Now click on the yellow ‘Copy’ button and select Copy to SSD from the drop-down.
- This will copy the entirety of the drive to a new SSD drive. Once the copy is complete, update the server settings to mount the new drive instead, then start the server.
- Once you are happy with the new SSD drive you can delete the original drive, or keep it as a backup.
- That’s it, you have now migrated your drive to SSD and will benefit from increased disk IO performance. It’s that easy to upgrade to SSD in Elastichosts.
